Ecommerce provider Bigcommerce is about to get a big makeover, according to their blog. Bigcommerce started only 3 years ago and has since become one of the biggest ecom providers, with a staff of 150 and approximately 25,000 clients. Bigcommerce is a great solution for small to mid-size merchants looking to get a store online fast. It’s a fully hosted solution and the possibilities for customization are endless.
The downside is that the site design and control panel areas look a bit dated (3 years is a long time in internet years!). The Bigcommerce design, product and engineering teams have gone back and redesigned the entire look and feel, including the branding. They’ll even be rolling out a new tagline” “Sell More!” which is kind of the point, really. The screens shots we’ve seen so far are pretty impressive. They’re focused on simplicity – stripping back complex menus, adding more white space and using color cues sparingly. Making the application visually simpler will create a better user experience for shop owners, which is critical, because I’m certain there’s more than few non-tech savvy Bigcommerce clients out there. This obviously translates into less support issues and happier customers…selling more!
The new design will be rolling out soon, but they’ll be offering shop owners the ability to opt-in and try the new site so that they can collect feedback and work out the bugs before the official rollout.
